Transient Convicted in Death of Ex-President of California Bar

A transient has been convicted of second-degree murder for strangling a former president of the California State Bar during a sexual encounter.
Garvin Shallenberger was killed in 2006 at his Palm Desert vacation home, the Daily Journal reports (sub. req.). He was 85.
Michael Salvador Anunciation was convicted yesterday and will be sentenced on Oct. 27, the story says. A different jury had deadlocked as it deliberated a conviction of second-degree murder or manslaughter.
Shallenberger was a partner at Rutan & Tucker and at one time oversaw its litigation department.
