In a meeting today, Troutman Sanders called for staff volunteers to accept a "generous" severance package.

And it also announced that the firm plans to make an unspecified number of involuntary associate and staff layoffs in response to economic conditions, reports Above the Law.

"Troutman Sanders believes these reductions, while difficult and unfortunate, will help insure that the law firm remains profitable and maintains the highest level of service to its clients," the firm says in a written statement provided to the law blog.
