Troutman Sanders will merge with Ross, Dixon & Bell, producing a combined firm with a wide geographic reach in the United States.

The combined firm will have the Troutman Sanders name when the merger takes place on Jan. 1, according to a press release. Troutman Sanders managing partner Robert Webb Jr. will retain his position.

Both law firms have offices in Washington, D.C. The 100-lawyer Ross, Dixon & Bell also has offices in California and Chicago. Troutman Sanders has 650 lawyers and offices in Atlanta, New York, Raleigh, Virginia, London and Asia.

“The merger of these two great law firms continues Troutman Sanders’ strategy of expanding into new markets where we are needed by existing clients and see the potential for considerable future growth,” Webb said in the press release.
