Verdict in ‘Family Secrets’ Trial: All Guilty

After months of testimony and days of deliberation, a federal jury reached a verdict today in one of the biggest organized crime trials in years: all defendants are guilty on all counts.

In a case based on high-level insider testimony, retired Chicago police officer Anthony "Twan" Doyle (who is not accused of any murders) as well as reputed Outfit associates James Marcello, Joey "the Clown" Lombardo, Frank Calabrese Sr. and Paul "the Indian" Schiro were all found guilty today of racketeering conspiracy, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Additional details are provided by Chicago Sun-Times, and more may be coming—the Tribune article says the court hearing concerning the jury verdict was still ongoing at 2:35 p.m. CDT.

The so-called "Operation Family Secrets" trial not only involved 18 murders allegedly committed by a Chicago crime family known as "the Outfit" over a period of decades but, if testimony was correct, implicated Chicago police in some of the crime family's activities, as discussed in an earlier ABAJournal.com post.
