Wesley Snipes Gets 3 Years in Failure-to-File Case

Failing to file income tax returns for three years cost actor Wesley Snipes a maximum three-year prison term at his sentencing today in an Ocala, Fla., federal courtroom, according to breaking news headlines from CNN and WESH, an NBC affiliate in Orlando.
Although Snipes had beaten the rap on the most serious charges against him, prosecutors were eager to make an example out of the Hollywood star and urged the court to give him the max in the misdemeanor case, writes the Associated Press in an article earlier today.
As discussed in a previous ABAJournal.com post, prosecutors had recommended a maximum three-year jail term. They also sought a fine of at least $5 million, AP notes.
The breaking news reports don't say whether Snipes was fined.
