Nice work if you can get it: In a fee application filed yesterday in federal bankruptcy court in New York, one of the nation's most renowned corporate bankruptcy law practice groups revealed what it hopes to get for its work in the nation's biggest bankruptcy case.
The petition by Lehman Brothers seeks court permission to retain Weil Gotshal & Manges at billable hourly rates of $650 to $950 for partners and counsel, $355 to $595 for associates and $155 to $295 for paraprofessionals, reports Bloomberg.
The New York-based international law firm has represented the investment bank for 24 years in financial matters, and its "past experience with Lehman is particularly valuable because of the extraordinary complexity of the debtors' business operations,'' the filing says.
The firm's bankruptcy practice is led by partner Harvey Miller.

It is very BAD for everybody out there because of the economy. My heart goes out to everyone.
To the lawyers, there is money to be made at this law firm. I asked my boyfriend that mabye I should ask to apply for a job and learn bankruptcy law at this law firm?
Of course, I would have to live right next to the firm and they are in Manhattan, New York, which is VERY expensive, and I am not sure I want to work these kind of hours any more.
My boyfriend reminded me now that there are NO guaranees that I will make partner (which I already know, thank you very much, Alan), so I just have to way in the pluses and the minusses to come up with my OWN decision.
My boyfriend does want to see MORE Broadway shows, so that’s a plus for him. But he already works here, and I have to consider ME and MY NEEDS too.
I will have to consider this VERY carfully.
