Witnesses defended a lawyer’s request for $11,000 an hour in fees in a trade secret case before a Florida judge yesterday.

Lawyers testifying on behalf of Willie Gary of Stuart, Fla., who represented a defunct technology company that sued Motorola, said he is one of the top lawyers in the country, the Daily Business Review reports.

"He has extraordinary instincts about cases," testified Fort Lauderdale, Fla., lawyer Bruce Rogow. "He has extraordinary instincts about people."

Gary is seeking $93 million in attorney fees for the plaintiffs’ legal team and a $100 million sanction against Schaumburg, Ill.-based Motorola for violating a sequestration order. The trial ended with a hung jury last fall.
