Sent Home With Wrong Family, Now-Adult Twin Sues

An identical twin who discovered, as an adult, that she had been sent home from a Canary Islands hospital in Spain with the wrong family has sued over the alleged mix-up.

Now 35, the unnamed woman discovered she had a twin when she was mistaken for her sister by a stranger in a shop at age 28, according to the London Times. A DNA test confirmed the relationship. Meanwhile, her sister and the rest of the family believed the baby they took home in the plaintiff's place was in fact the other twin.

The suit seeks $4.7 million for emotional trauma, claiming what the plaintiff's attorney, Sebastián Socorro, describes as "moral damages" for malpractice. It was filed… Continue reading...
