VetLex

A web platform for military veterans seeking pro bono legal assistance was launched Saturday by the American Bar Association and Jones Day.

The site, VetLex.org, will be able to accept cases in certain cities and states by Veterans Day 2017, according to an ABA press release. The national platform will be fully operational in 2018.

At this stage, lawyers interested in representing veterans can sign on to VetLex and create a profile detailing what sort of cases they can take. Additionally, VetLex can provide lawyers with training to become accredited with the Department of Veterans Affairs to handle veterans benefit cases. VetLex also provides information about social service providers that can meet needs— employment, housing, medical—that can occur in tandem with veterans’ legal issues.

A $250,000 donation from the Jones Day Foundation helped fund the creation of the platform.
