The tide is now turning against zero tolerance discipline policies in schools, the ABA Journal reports. In January 2014, the U.S. Department of Education a study by the American Psychological Association.) But there is evidence that it increases drop-out rates and is applied in higher numbers to children of color and children with disabilities.

Here you’ll find some eyebrow-raising examples of the kinds of misbehavior which resulted in children as young as 6 being suspended from school, given detention—or even arrested.
