Facebook, militia groups and Kyle Rittenhouse sued

The partner of Anthony Huber, a man killed in Kenosha, Wisconsin, protests, is among four plaintiffs suing Facebook, militia groups and Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old charged with killing Huber and a second person. The suit says the Kenosha Guard, a militia group, called for armed people to come to Kenosha on its Facebook page, inspiring Rittenhouse to bring his gun to demonstrations. Suit alleges general counsel was fired for failing to soften criticism

A lawsuit filed by the former general counsel at the Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, claims that she was fired after being told that she should have spoken “less harshly” when spoke out about false meeting minutes. Plaintiff Loretta Pickus alleges gender discrimination and wrongful termination. (Law.com)

Lawyer’s family can’t sue over arrest, 5th Circuit says

The family of a lawyer who founded the Mississippi Tea Party can’t sue for false arrest because the officer has qualified immunity, according to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals at New Orleans. Lawyer Mark Mayfield was arrested for his involvement in photographing the wife of a U.S. senator in bed at a nursing home, part of an alleged effort to show that the senator was a “hypocrite and an adulterer.” Mayfield shot and killed himself after publicity surrounding the arrest caused his law practice to collapse. Another BigLaw firm restores salaries
