Those trying to keep ABA leadership scorecards up to date can safely pencil Wm. T. “Bill” Robinson III of Florence, Ky., into the lineup for president.

That result became virtually a sure thing when H. William Allen of Little Rock, Ark., withdrew from the race. Robinson confirmed Sunday that he now is running unopposed.

Robinson’s remarks came during a candidates forum conducted by the ABA nominating committee. The committee will confirm its selection of Robinson in February at the ABA’s 2010 midyear meeting in Orlando, Fla. He will then be formally elected by the House of Delegates next August during the annual meeting in San Francisco. He will serve as president-elect until becoming president in August 2011 at the annual meeting in Toronto.

Robinson is member-in-charge of the northern Kentucky offices of Frost Brown Todd. He served as ABA treasurer in 2005-08, and he is a past president of the Kentucky Bar Association. Among his current responsibilities, Robinson chairs the Standing Committee on Governmental Affairs, which oversees the association’s policy advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill.

The nominating committee actually should have an easy time of it in Orlando because the candidates for other offices also are running unopposed. The House will confirm their selections next August. The candidates are:

Chair of the House of Delegates: Linda A. Klein of Atlanta, the managing shareholder for the Georgia offices of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz. She currently chairs the ABA Coalition for Justice. Her two-year term will start in August 2010.

Treasurer: Lucian T. Pera, a partner at Adams and Reese in Memphis. He currently chairs the ABA Standing Committee on Technology and Information Systems.

Secretary: Cara Lee T. Neville, a state district court judge in Minneapolis. She currently chairs the Coordinating Council of the ABA Justice Center.

Pera and Neville each will have “elect” status for one year, then begin their three-year terms starting in August 2011.
