A Birmingham, Ala., man has been charged with capital murder in the death of an Alabama lawyer found dead of multiple gunshot wounds at his home.

Ocie Lee Lynch, 30, was being held without bond on a charge of capital murder during the commission of a burglary, according to the Daily Home. He is charged in the death of 54-year-old Talladega County lawyer Blake Lazenby, who was found dead in his Sylacauga home on July 27. Police began looking for Lazenby, a civil defense and workers compensation lawyer, after they found his burning 2009 GMC Yukon.

In a court appearance on Wednesday, Lynch asked why he was being charged with both burglary and capital murder, according to the Daily Home story. Talladega County District Judge Jeb Fannin said Lynch was accused of a murder that occurs during the course of a felony.

District Attorney Steve Giddens said the evidence will show that Lynch was inside the house when the killing occurred, the Daily Home says. Interim Sylacauga Police Chief Chris Carden said the investigation is continuing and the case is “far from over.”
