Do Your Briefs Carry Bite? Papers Could Be Reason for DA Infestation
Lawyers beware: Your briefcase may harbor little biting critters.
It’s unclear if that’s how bedbugs made their way to the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office, but it’s a possibility, the Brooklyn Eagle reports. “Bedbugs can be transported not only on human clothes or shoes, but even in paperwork like the large legal case files that attorneys carry—and metal detectors are powerless to detect these minuscule intruders,” the story says.
On Friday, exterminators and bedbug-sniffing dogs were at the DA’s office, located in a modern high-rise on Jay Street, according to the Eagle, the the New York Daily News and the New York Post.
The bed bugs haven’t infiltrated the court building a few doors down the street, but that hasn’t stopped the worrying. “I’m concerned that when these assistant district attorneys come to court that these bugs are going to take a ride over to us,” a source told the Post.
