A California lawyer is seeking millions in damages after a former client left a negative review about him on Google last January.
Lawyer Scott Schutzman is suing Oren Stern, who he represented in litigation against Pharma Funding over a $500,000 loan, Legal Newsline reports.
Stern secured a judgment of $500,000 plus interest and attorney fees in the case but said in a January 2025 Google review Schutzman was “absolutely the most unprofessional lawyer I’ve ever dealt with … completely unreliable, unresponsive and lacking basic professionalism.”
“Do yourself a huge favor—save your time, money and sanity by finding someone else,” Stern also said in the review, according to Legal Newsline. “Avoid at all costs!”
Schutzman called Stern’s review “libelous on its face,” Legal Newsline reports, and is asking the court for $1 million in damages and $2.5 million in punitive damages. He “has suffered loss of his reputation, shame, mortification and injury to his feelings,” the lawsuit also says.
Schutzman is also suing Amit Louzon, who assisted with his communication with Stern. According to Legal Newsline, Schutzman said Louzon failed to communicate his advice that Stern accept a settlement offer.
He is seeking $130,000, plus punitive damages, from Louzon, Legal Newsline reports.
