Corrected: Davis Polk & Wardwell has raided Mayer Brown’s office in Sao Paulo for the lawyers it needs to open a new office in Brazil’s financial center this summer.

Joining Davis Polk will be Mayer Brown partners Stephen Hood, the chief of Mayer Brown’s office there, and James Vickers, reports Legal Week. Both have expertise in banking and finance.

That leaves the Sao Paulo office of Mayer Brown with a single partner, securities practitioner Ricardo Gonzalez, and two associates.

Corporate partners Maurice Blanco and Manuel Garciadiaz of Davis Polk will head the new Sao Paulo office when it opens its doors next month. Vickers will also be a partner and Hood will be of counsel.
