Ethics case dropped against ex-Florida judge accused of faking dockets to take time off

A former Florida judge accused of creating “contrived dockets” so he could secretly take time off from work won’t face ethics charges.
The Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission had filed notice of ethics charges against Broward Circuit Judge John Contini on July 24, even though he had resigned 18 days earlier. On Aug. 3, the JQC announced it was dropping the charges, report the Sun Sentinel and the Daily Business Review.
The JQC is dropping the charges because of Contini’s resignation.
Contini was accused of instructing his assistant to create dockets of fictitious cases on days he planned to be absent from the courthouse to create the impression he was present in court.
He was also accused of sealing a case for a friend even though the matter wasn’t assigned to his division, and requiring his assistant to perform personal tasks.
