Ex-lawyer seeks bar reinstatement after US House primary win

A former attorney who last week won the Republican nomination for Maryland’s 6th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives asked Wednesday to be readmitted to the state bar.
Just hours after the Associated Press declared him the winner of the Republican primary race, Robin Ficker filed a petition for reinstatement with the Maryland Supreme Court.
Ficker, 83, was disbarred in 2022 for failing to appear at a 2019 district court trial. Ficker was also previously disciplined by the state and federal bars eight times for professional misconduct, according to a story by the Daily Record.
“He has thoroughly learned from those mistakes,” wrote Ficker’s attorney, William C. Brennan Jr., in the petition for reinstatement.
The petition also said Ficker would buy case management software “to ensure that all court dates are correctly entered on his calendar, and that he will not be overbooked for court appearances.”
