When his trial begins in his next Massachusetts murder case, former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez will have a new defense team.

He has retained Jose Baez, who shot to prominence for his successful defense of Casey Anthony in a Florida capital child-murder case, and a clinical Harvard Law School professor, Ronald Sullivan Jr., reports the Boston Globe.

Hernandez is already serving a life sentence following his 2015 conviction in Bristol Superior Court, in an unrelated murder case over the slaying of a man dating his fiance’s sister.

He is accused in the ongoing Suffolk Superior Court prosecution of killing two strangers in a drive-by shooting sparked by a spilled drink at a Boston nightclub.

“We understand that numerous reports of our client’s alleged activity have been published, but we ask the public to afford Mr. Hernandez the presumption of innocence and let the facts unfold in a court of law,’’ Baez told the newspaper.
