Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher partner Randy Mastro has said he won’t be intimidated by vandals who spray-painted his home with epithets, apparently due to his involvement in a homeless issue.

“The persons who did this are criminals who should be brought to justice,” he said in a statement provided to Law.com and Thomson Reuters Legal. “And if they thought they were going to intimidate me, they picked the wrong guy.”

Mastro represented the West Side Community Organization in its bid to remove homeless people from a hotel on the Upper West Side.

“My clients are advocating for the most humane treatment for this vulnerable population,” he told Law.com in an interview. That includes a “proper shelter with all of the social services they need.”

Among the words spray-painted in red on Mastro’s Manhattan townhome are “Shame,” “F- - - you Randy,” and, “Randy Mastro you can’t displace us,” according to a video by the New York Post. The vandalism happened the night of Oct. 20.

New York State Bar Association President Scott Karson condemned the vandalism in an Oct. 23 statement.

“It is alarming to hear that another member of our esteemed profession has been targeted with a despicable act of harassment for simply providing legal counsel,” Karson said.

Karson said lawyers at a Brooklyn law firm have also been targeted because of the clients they represent.

“The state bar association condemns the actions of all those responsible for this recent spate of harassment,” he said.
