Howrey has laid off 32 support staffers in an effort to focus its resources in three practice areas.

Howrey issued a statement confirming last week’s layoffs. The Am Law Daily, Above the Law and Law360 have the story.

“This right-sizing of the firm will allow Howrey to concentrate its resources on its three principal practice groups—antitrust, intellectual property and complex business litigation, and to maintain our strong competitive position,” the firm said.

Howrey has lost about one in five of its partners since last winter and is struggling to boost profits per partner back toward the $1 million mark, the American Lawyer reported in October.
