Although no merger is apparently contemplated right now, Husch Blackwell and a United Kingdom law firm are planning to set up housekeeping together in London.

As part of a “principal partner” relationship, the 600-lawyer Husch firm will move to the London offices of McGrigors, reports Legal Week.

The two firms will also treat each other as preferred suppliers for referred business.

“Our presence in the city has been a key element of our success since we opened here in 1999,” says Michael Ray, the London managing partner of Husch Blackwell, of his firm’s presence there. “Our model is unique. We do not compete with U.K. law firms. Rather we manage our clients’ U.K. service needs and provide a full-service resource for the legal needs of U.K.-based businesses across the U.S.”
