The son of a municipal judge has taken a plea deal in a brazen $1.5 million heist at a Las Vegas casino that made international headlines.

Anthony Carleo, 29, pleaded guilty this morning in the so-called Bellagio Biker Bandit case, reports the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The suspect in the December armed robbery reportedly both arrived and escaped by motorcycle within about three minutes after he robbed a craps table of $1.5 million in high-value chips at gunpoint, and was captured on surveillance cameras as he strode through the casino wearing a full-face motorcycle helmet.

Another Review-Journal article says Carleo is expected later this week to take a similar deal, involving guilty pleas to robbery with use of a deadly weapon and assault with use of a deadly weapon, concerning the robbery earlier in December of $18,000 cash from the Suncoast poker room.

An additional eight felony charges are being dropped under the terms of the plea agreement.

Carleo’s father, Las Vegas Municipal Judge George Assad, last week lost his bid for reelection after 11 years on the bench, reports the Daily Mail.

Some who voted against him said the robbery case had an impact on their decision.
