Attorneys, law students and others clad in business attire laid down in the rain outside a downtown Los Angeles courthouse on Tuesday, in one of the latest “die-in” protests responding to controversial slayings by police in New York, Missouri and elsewhere.

Participants blocked pedestrian and vehicular traffic outside the Hill Street entrance to the Stanley Mosk Courthouse for about 15 minutes, reports the Los Angeles Times (sub. req.).

“The issue of police brutality is not about any single officer or victim, nor is it about good people versus bad people,” said law professor Priscilla Ocen on a bullhorn. “The number of unjustified homicides is a result of an entire system left too long without the legitimate checks necessary to ensure accountability and justice.”
