Law prof's slaying remains unsolved
Tallahassee police have yet to make an arrest in the shooting of Florida State University law professor Dan Markel, who died from a gunshot wound to the head.
A neighbor who heard a loud bang on July 18 found Markel bleeding in his car in the garage. His driver’s side window was broken. The neighbor reported seeing a silver car resembling a Prius leaving the area.
Officer David Northway, a police spokesman, told the Tallahassee Democrat that an investigator is still assigned to the case, and a tips hotline is still operational.
“Television crime shows [have] shown us that things get done very, very quickly,” Northway told the newspaper. “TV and crime shows are not a representation of our times.”
Markel’s home is now owned by his two young sons, his only heirs. His ex-wife, Florida State University clinical law professor Wendi Adelson, resigned from the school effective Jan. 30, the story says. Adelson’s lawyer had reported she was “scared to death” after the shooting.
