Fresh off its partnerships with actor Jude Law and the New York Yankees, legal artificial intelligence platform Legora has made another big move—this time looking to its own hometown.

On Thursday, the collaborative legal AI platform announced its acquisition of fellow Stockholm-based company Qura, an AI-native legal research platform.

“Legal research will be a cornerstone of the legal AI stack, and Qura has built one of the most impressive foundations in the world,” said Max Junestrand, the CEO and co-founder of Legora, in an April 23 press release. “We evaluated legal research startups globally, and Qura stood out by a wide margin. Their ability to combine deep legal understanding with truly AI-native infrastructure is exceptional.”

Focusing primarily on Swedish and European Union law, Qura, which was founded in 2023, is currently in 27 jurisdictions, and its revenue has increased 40% month over month, according to the press release. Legora hopes that the Qura acquisition will help in its plans for global expansion—particularly to establish itself in the United States.

Legora’s rivals in the practice management sphere have all been looking for acquisitions or partnerships with AI-enhanced legal research companies. In June 2025, the Harvey AI platform announced a partnership with LexisNexis, while Clio, a cloud-based practice management software company and an advertiser with the ABA Journal, acquired vLex, a legal intelligence and global research platform that includes Vincent AI, for $1 billion in 2025.

“From day one, our ambition at Qura has been to rethink legal research from first principles. We’ve built a system that doesn’t just retrieve legal information but understands it in context,” said Arvid Winterfeldt, the CEO of Qura, in the press release. “Joining Legora allows us to scale that vision globally, faster. Together, we have the team, technology and conviction to build the future of legal research.”
