A Missouri man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for forcing a young woman to become his sex slave.

Edward Bagley, 46, who was sentenced Wednesday, had pleaded guilty in January to one count of using an interstate facility to entice a minor into illegal sexual conduct, the Associated Press reports.

Bagley, who originally faced 11 federal charges, including torture and mutilation, agreed to the 20-year term as part of a plea bargain with prosecutors.

The deal also spares the victim, now 27, from having to relive the experience.

“Even though Ed pleaded guilty, he still hasn’t told the truth,” the woman, whom the AP did not identity, said at Bagley’s sentencing hearing.

Prosecutors said Bagley and his wife, Marilyn, 48, enticed the young woman, then 16, to come live with them in their rural Missouri home and forced her to become Bagley’s sex slave. On her 18th birthday, the woman signed a contract that Bagley said made her his sex slave for life.

Her ordeal came to light in 2009 when the woman, then 23, had to be hospitalized after what prosecutors called a “horrific” torture session.

Two other men who participated in the torture sessions were also sentenced Wednesday. Bradley Cook, 34, received a 20-year sentence; Dennis Henry, 53, got 10 years.

Marilyn Bagley and two other men will be sentenced Thursday. Bagley, who pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, will be placed on probation.
