Arrested Monday, along with his son, in a federal corruption case, Dean Skelos has so far retained his position as majority leader of the New York Senate.

However, the Republican is no longer listed on the attorney roster as counsel to the Uniondale law firm with which he had been affiliated for the last two decades, according to the New York Times (reg. req.) and the Watertown Daily Times.

“Senator Skelos is currently on a leave of absence from the firm,” said Ruskin Moscou Faltischek in a written statement provided to the Times by a spokeswoman. “Dean has been a tireless advocate for Long Island and a valued and trusted colleague for over 20 years.”

None of the charges in the criminal complaint against Skelos relate to his work at the law firm, and lawmakers in New York are allowed to work part-time as attorneys.

Attorney G. Robert Gage Jr. represents Skelos. He did not respond to the Times’ requests for comment Thursday.
