Ongoing auction features documents, furniture Lincoln used to practice law

For a minimum bid of at least $15,000, you might be able to own a two-drawer table used by former President Abraham Lincoln when he practiced law in Illinois.
It’s reported that the former U.S. president, who led the country through the Civil War, wrote “House Divided,” one of his speeches, at the table in 1858, when he ran for the U.S. Senate.
The sale is being handled by Heritage Auctions, CBS News reports.
Online bidding is available, and bidding ends July 30 at 10:50 a.m. Central time, according to the auction house’s website.
Besides the table, items for sale include Lincoln’s handwritten notes on an Illinois bill; a book detailing client fees, mostly handwritten by Lincoln; and instructions that he wrote for a debt collection matter.
According to Heritage Auctions, most of Lincoln’s work when he practiced law with Stephen T. Logan involved debt collection.
Items are from the family of Alfred Orendorff, a lawyer and a politician who practiced law with William Herndon, Lincoln’s biographer and last law partner.
