Orrick to open Houston office with 20 lateral partners from a half-dozen firms
Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe is opening a new office in Houston with 20 lateral partners hired from approximately a half-dozen other law firms.
Exactly which attorneys and which firms, Orrick isn’t saying at this point, pending notification of soon-to-be-former employers by the exiting laterals, the Wall Street Journal Law Blog (sub. req.) reports.
Additional attorneys will be hired as associates.
“We want to have a team large enough and balanced enough to survive and thrive through waxes and wanes,” Mitchell Zuklie, Orrick’s chairman and CEO, told the newspaper.
A law firm news release provides more details.
Houston and its energy companies have attracted numerous law offices to open in the city in recent years, including Willkie Farr, Kirkland & Ellis, Arnold & Porter, Katten Muchin Rosenman and Reed Smith.
