Patent team exits Womble Carlyle to open new Silicon Valley office for Downey Brand
A five-lawyer patent team headed by Michael Ferrazano has exited Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice to open a new Silicon Valley office for Sacramento-based Downey Brand.
The group also includes five patent agents, a paralegal and 11 staff members, and is expected to bring a substantial book of business to the new Cupertino.office, reports the Sacramento Business Journal. It will open its doors on Wednesday.
“Our region isn’t just Sacramento any more,” said managing partner Scott Shapiro of Downey Brand. “It’s the Bay Area to Sacramento, Stockton and Reno. “Therefore, we need to grow our practice in the Bay Area.”
His firm currently has 110 attorneys, according to its website, with all except 89 working out of Sacramento. The firm also has offices in San Francisco, Stockton, California and Reno.
