The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday turned down former President Donald Trump’s emergency request to block a subpoena for his tax and financial records.
Vance is said to be investigating hush money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal. A legal filing in August suggested that the probe could broaden to include tax and insurance fraud.
Trump had argued that the subpoena was overly broad and issued in bad faith. The case was back before the Supreme Court after it ruled in July that a president is not automatically and absolutely immune from state criminal subpoenas.
The subpoena was issued to accounting firm Mazars USA, which has said it will comply with court rulings.
“The work continues,” Vance tweeted.
