If you find yourself packing on the pounds at your latest legal job, you’re not alone. (Share any experiences you’ve had with this in answers to our Question of the Week.)

A recent survey of more than 5,700 workers found that lawyers and judges are among those most likely to report a weight gain at their current job. Administrative assistants—not just those in the legal field—also had a higher incidence of weight gain. The survey was conducted by Harris Interactive for CareerBuilder, according to a press release. The Larry Bodine LawMarketing Blog summarizes the findings.

What are the causes? Among all workers who added pounds, 54 percent said it was because of sitting at their desk most of the day; 56 percent said they also ate their lunch at their desk. Other reasons included eating because of stress (reported by 37 percent) and eating out regularly (reported by 23 percent).

Others with a higher incidence of weight gain include travel agents, social workers, teachers, artists/designers/architects, physicians, police and firefighters, marketing/public relations professionals, and information technology professionals.
