Well-known trial lawyer faces assault case, accused of punching attorney at upscale NYC eatery
A New York trial lawyer known for winning three acquittals for now-deceased client and reputed organized-crime boss John Gotti apparently “has still got some fight left in him,” his law partner says.
That was demonstrated on Thursday, according to New York City police, when Bruce Cutler, 65, punched a fellow attorney, 38, who was dining at another table in an upscale steakhouse, reports the New York Daily News. The altercation occurred after Cutler repeatedly told the other attorney, John Aiello, that he was being too loud, says the Daily News. Cutler’s law partner, Tim Parlatore, of Cutler and Parlatore, is defending him in the misdemeanor assault case that resulted from the incident.
Cutler subsequently spoke to the New York Daily News, a day after he was featured in a CBS television series, Blue Bloods. He said his feelings were hurt by anonymous criticism of him by a worker at the Porterhouse restaurant, as reported by the newspaper, but appreciated the support that friends have shown him.
“It’s overwhelming how supportive people seem to be for this kind of alleged infraction,” he said, adding: “You regret losing your temper, but sometimes you can understand it.”
