Three finalists have been chosen for the inaugural Scott Turow Prize for Excellence in Legal Fiction, which is being awarded by the ABA Journal, the University of Miami School of Law and the University of Miami School of Arts & Sciences.

The finalists are:

• A Pair of Aces, by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher

• Grave Danger, by James Grippando

• Judge Stone, by James Patterson and Viola Davis

The Turow Prize will be awarded to the submission that best illuminates the role of lawyers in society and their power to effect meaningful change. The award ceremony will happen Nov. 19 at the University of Miami.

Named in honor of pioneering attorney and international bestselling author Scott Turow—the “father of the modern legal thriller”—the Turow Prize seeks to unearth compelling works of fiction that illuminate the dynamics of law, the justice system and the human experience.

Turow’s 13 fiction and two nonfiction books, including Presumed Innocent and the current Presumed Guilty, have sold over 30 million copies worldwide and been adapted for film and television. He also frequently contributes to publications such as the New York Times, the Washington Post, Vanity Fair and the Atlantic.

The author of the Turow Prize-winning submission will receive a cash prize and a signed copy of Presumed Innocent at the award ceremony and reception and the exclusive right to feature the prestigious Turow Prize logo on their winning book’s cover.
