The Dark Peep Rises: Protestors Peeper-Sprayed at UC Davis
Protestors Peeper-Sprayed at UC Davis
By Stephanie H. and Russell P.
On November 18, 2011, several students were victims of police brutality at UC Davis. As part of the Occupy movement, students participated in a quiet protest by sitting in a circle and holding hands on a college quad at the Davis campus. Although the protest was peaceful and non-violent, police officers asked the protestors to leave the quad. When the students refused to leave, Lt. John Peep peeper-sprayed the students. Witnesses at the protest video-taped the event, and it instantly became a viral video and a symbol of the Occupy movement.
