Calif. Lawyer Killed, Girlfriend Arrested

A California lawyer was found dead at his home by Oakland police late Friday, and his live-in girlfriend has now been arrested on suspicion of shooting Michael Porcella, 36.

Rennie Pratt, 28, a barber, is being held without bail, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

“Every little dinner, every kind of social event or social gathering we had, we would always egg him on to sing,” says attorney H. Ernesto Castillo, a friend of Porcella. “He was just a good-hearted guy. He had a huge heart. He loved all his friends.”

Porcella worked part-time on projects for in the Robert Beles criminal defense firm. He graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco and was admitted to the California bar in 2006.
