A former Ohio attorney was indicted Tuesday, accused of altering a probate court document to show that she was a guardian of a minor child and then collecting $67,000 in benefits on his behalf.

Lindsey T. Burt, 33, is charged with money laundering, forgery, theft and tampering with records. The alleged scheme took place over a five-year period between 2008 and 2013, according to the Columbus Dispatch and WRGT.

She is accused in the Franklin County case of putting herself in the place of the boy’s father, and then collecting benefits from the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System to which the child was entitled due to the death of his mother.

Burt gave up her law license in 2011.
