Barry Bonds Pleads Not Guilty

Barry Bonds, major league baseball's home run king, pleaded not guilty in federal court in San Francisco today to perjury and obstruction of justice charges.
The court event was a media frenzy, as fans and at least one business outside the courthouse rallied in seeming support of the 43-year-old slugger, according to CNN.
The case is of considerable interest to baseball fans because it relates to Bonds' alleged use of steroids during his American League career, although he has publicly denied doing so, and how the league has handled the steroids issue concerning all of its players. If convicted, Bonds could face up to 10 years in prison for an obstruction of justice conviction, although experts say such a hefty term is unlikely.
