Lawyer Assails ‘Unprecedented’ Ethics Charge

To Bruce Rogow, the ethics case against his client is all about judicial independence.
Rogow is attorney for Judge Michael Allen of Florida's 1st District Court of Appeal, who is facing ethics charges for an opinion questioning another judge’s ethics, according to the St. Petersburg Times.
Rogow told the newspaper that such charges are "unprecedented, not just here, but anywhere in the country."
Florida’s Judicial Qualifications Commission filed ethics charges against Allen yesterday, alleging his opinion impairs the public's confidence in the integrity of the bench. The charges stem from a concurring opinion he wrote blasting Judge Charles Kahn, claiming he improperly participated in an appeal of a politician’s bribery conviction.
