Lawyers helped teach Colorado Girl Scouts how to stay safe and deal with bullying at a retreat held last weekend.

The program at a Doubletree Hotel in Westminster was the result of a partnership between the ABA and Girl Scouts of the USA, according to an article contributed by a Girl Scout spokesman on YourHub.com. Girl Scouts of Colorado is one of 10 councils participating in the pilot program, which was created to teach girls about school safety, teen dating violence, legal protections in cases of abuse, and conflict resolution.

Many of the girls said the highlight was a mock trial held at the end of the weekend.

“I never really knew anything about the law before this, and now I’ve met a real judge and know how the court works and handles problems,” said 11-year-old Chloe Elder. “The most awesome thing was that we got to stay at this really cool place and learn at the same time.”
