Burr & Forman Acquires 23-Attorney Tampa Law Firm, Establishing a Third Office in Florida

A growing Southeast regional firm with a history in Birmingham, Ala., that dates back a century is establishing a new office in Florida with the acquisition of a 23-attorney law firm there.

Counting the lawyers from Williams Schifino Mangione & Steady, there will now be more than 275 attorneys on Burr & Forman’s roster, the Birmingham News reports.

The new Tampa office, which is Burr & Forman’s third in Florida, will be headed by William Schifino Jr.

“It is always our practice to listen to our clients’ needs, and the launches of each of our offices throughout the Southeast have been a direct result of feedback from clients,” said Burr & Forman’s managing partner, William Lee Thuston, in the release. “This combination with Williams Schifino is no exception; strategically, expansion into the Tampa market is the perfect solution for our banking and financial institutions clients who desire local legal counsel.”

Burr & Forman explanded its Orlando, Fla., office in January and opened a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., office in April. It now has a total of nine offices in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and Tennessee.
