Once a rising criminal defense star, an embattled attorney in Portland, Ore., who was already facing criminal and legal disciplinary cases was arrested last night and charged with burglary.

Randy Ray Richardson, 39, was released on $200,000 bond after being booked for first-degree burglary in a Clackamas County case, reports the Oregonian. The arrest reportedly stemmed from a domestic incident after he and the claimed victim ended a romantic relationship; when the unnamed 27-year-old woman later returned to her apartment after a business trip, she found items missing.

Richardson is already defending an aggravated theft case as well as bar disciplinary charges stemming from an alleged attempt in 2006 to help a friend swindle an elderly woman who had just entered a nursing home.

“The criminal charges from the 2006 incident accuse Richardson of helping a friend obtain the power of attorney and title to his elderly aunt’s home just weeks after she was declared mentally incompetent,” the newspaper writes. “Those charges mirror allegations of dishonesty, fraud and deceit that the Oregon State Bar is pursuing against Richardson in a disciplinary trial based on the same encounter.”
