After a tearful apology, a former Crowell & Moring associate was sentenced Wednesday to four to 12 years in prison for stealing $10.7 million from clients.

Douglas Arntsen, 34, said he was “consumed with remorse,” the New York Law Journal reports. He had entered a guilty plea earlier this month in exchange for the prison sentence and an agreement to pay restitution.

Prosecutors say Arntsen spent the money on sporting events; restaurant meals; strip clubs; loans and investments; and the purchase of businesses for himself and others.
