In anticipation of continued impact from the economic downturn, California's Hastings College of Law is scaling back.
Some raises are being nixed, hiring is being scaled back and department heads are being asked to cut current operating budgets by 5 percent, the Recorder reports.
The cutbacks at the San Francisco school, which occupies a separate line item on the state's budget, come as California faces an historic budget crisis.
U.C. Berkeley told the Recorder that it is still coming up with financial strategies.
