Is Folger Levin in Merger Talks with Crowell & Moring?

“Knowledgeable sources” are telling a blog that San Francisco’s Folger Levin & Kahn is in advanced merger talks with Crowell & Moring.

The sources are from outside the law firms, the Legal Pad blog reports, and the law firms are not confirming the reports.

One lawyer told Legal Pad that the deal is causing turmoil inside Folger Levin. Some lawyers there like the idea of joining with a bigger firm, while others would rather strike out on their own, the lawyer told the blog.

San Francisco recruiter Avis Caravello told Legal Pad that the deal would give Crowell & Moring “a top litigation practice” in San Francisco, where it’s difficult for firms to establish a presence and quickly bulk up.
