A Long Island lawyer who killed himself by jumping off the roof of his office building last week is now under investigation in an alleged $11 million Ponzi scheme.

Nassau County prosecutors are investigating 39 complaints about the lawyer, 70-year-old Jay Korn, who practiced law in Hempstead, N.Y., according to Newsday and the New York Post.

Korn’s law partner, Arthur Spirn, said the law firm has turned over records to prosecutors. “I have no clue really what went on,” he told Newsday. The firm is not under investigation.

Three lawyers representing investors told Newsday that Korn claimed he was selling stakes in real estate deals. Investors received annual checks amounting to 12 percent to 15 percent of their principal.
