Meckler Bulger Tilson Marick & Pearson announced in a press release today that it is opening a new office in San Francisco.

Headed by Julia Molander, who joins the Meckler firm from Sedgwick, the new office will also include a six-lawyer team from Long & Levit and four other attorneys on its roster. Most have insurance coverage or labor and employment expertise.

An article in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin (sub. req.) today notes that the opening of the Bay Area office is the biggest move the more than 100-attorney Chicago-based firm has made since opening in 1994, according to Meckler co-chairman Joseph Tilson.

“As for future growth, now that we are in San Francisco, we intend to take a hard look at expanding in Los Angeles as well,” says co-chairman Bruce Meckler. “I think the market has changed and for us to be more competitive we need to be … national-based.”

The firm also opened offices in Dallas and Phoenix in 2007.
