Labor and employment firm Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart has opened an office in Milwaukee.

The firm announced on Monday that it had acquired nine Milwaukee-based attorneys to run the new office, Ogletree Deakins’s 47th across the United States, Europe and Mexico. According to the Milwaukee Business Journal, the nine new Ogletree Deakins attorneys are from Milwaukee labor and employment firm Krukowski & Costello.

“Milwaukee has been an attractive market for the firm for years and has a number of synergies with our Chicago and Minneapolis offices,” said Kim Ebert, managing shareholder of Ogletree Deakins, in the press release. “We are excited to expand into Milwaukee and have found a great group of talented professionals who fit our culture and share our values.”

According to the firm, five partners, one special counsel, one counsel and two associates have joined from Krukowski & Costello. Krukowski & Costello’s website lists two attorneys who still remain at the firm. Tim Costello, former named partner of Krukowski & Costello, will be Ogletree Deakins’s managing shareholder in the new Milwaukee office. “Ogletree Deakins is a first-class organization, and we are excited to be a part of the firm,” said Costello in the press release. “Our clients will immediately benefit from the firm’s depth of knowledge, boundless resources, and culture of unparalleled client service.”

The Milwaukee office opening is the firm’s first since last September, when it entered the Mexican market by establishing an office in Mexico City.
