When Royal “Scoop” Daniels disappeared from Breckenridge, Colo., late last month, friends feared foul play. But now police say the 61-year-old real estate lawyer may have left voluntarily.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Daniels, who allegedly stole money from client trust funds and owed $300,000 in credit card debt, according to Fox news.

The missing funds are not minor, reports ABC: “We believe Mr. Daniel took clients’ funds,” says lawyer John Gleason of the state Supreme Court’s attorney regulation office. “We are not sure how much. My concern is that it is a lot – as much as $1 million. We certainly don’t want him practicing law in Colorado or anywhere else.”

Police haven’t been able to find Daniels’ passport, which he renewed last year saying that he planned “travel in late April 2007,” Fox reports.
